There's a "low-Fi" static type noise evident during playback of all my mp3 files with the Cowon D2 Simulator, sounds like the background noise you get when one plays shoddy Vinyl LP's.

I don't get this on the same HiFi with the same files when playing back with VLC media player or Windows Media Player from the same notebook pc.

I have also plugged my H140 into the same HiFi, played the same mp3 files with "clear" sound.

I haven't tested other codec formats as I don't have music in other formats.

When browsing through my music collection if I want to go back one level a quick left joystick click is required, the problem is that this has to be really quick, if the left action is slightly longer than "quick" the left click action then takes the browser to root, this is annoying as the intention was to only go back one level, could the time delay for left click back to root be increased please ?.

Would it be possible to hide a folder/folders so that any pc which the DAP is plugged into won't be able to see the hidden folders. The hidden folder can only be made visible by entering passowrd in appropiate application. This would come in handy to store finacial and personal information on my DAP.

With Filetree view, Dircache enabled, I get duplicate file entries copying music to DAP;
I move music folders/albums around extensively from pc to mp3 player, and vice vers. My workflow is as follows if I have additional tracks/files I want to add to an existing folder/album on my DAP.
1). copy folder/album(x) from DAP to pc.
2). add the single new Track/file to the Folder, append new to the end of existing file list.
3). copy folder/album(x) with one additional new file(d) back to DAP.
4). after copying I check the folder on my DAP and it displays the following file list;

c
d

when selecting "view" on a file within Playlist Catalog it exits back to the Playlist Catalog directory without opening the file requested.

Bug 7274 persists with latest build after commit to fix it failed, dont know how to reopen the old bug on Fly Spray, could someone do it please,

All builds re Rolo’d and installed by deleting old files, no overwriting.
All My music is in one “Music” directory under “Files”

Bug:
Some albums are devoid of tracks/files, just blank albums/directories, both the builds above exhibit this behaviour, Several albums/directories randomly had zero tracks/files in them. I reverted to a build from the 31/5/2007 and the tracks were visible again.

The H1xx Rec button “still” isn’t assigned, would it be possible to give this button something meaningfull to do, seems a shame to waste a button.
It would be great to have Rec call the playlist, and activate recording, but that’s just me…..

If WPS is current screen, and one then goes back to one's music collection, the cursor doesn't return to where it was last/previously, it will always return to the last track or file which was loaded. this is a bit frustrating, if i want to add additional files/tracks to my playlist I have to scroll down anew each time, instead of the cursor remembering where I was in the music list. this is also frustrating if I have two seperate music directories, from wps it will return to directory from which i added a track, but if i was browsing the other directory and adding music to the playlist from the other directory i would have to navigate to it continuously instead of the cursor just going to the last browsed file.

I randomly, occasionally, have the last bit of a track chopped off during playback, with shuffle mode only. It occurs a few "large" seconds towards the end of a track with music which is quiet in the final stages.
If I play the problem album on its own, with shuffle off, playback is normal.

This occurs with recent builds and older builds going back a while, (can't remember when it started happening).

how I manage my music;
I remove the tracks I don't like from a album, then retag the remaining tracks so that the number sequence is correct.
I also compile my own "Best Of Albums" and retag the albums accordingly. I have lots of music which I have "culled" like this, and it doesn't happen with every album, so I am certain it's not a tagging issue.

for the sake of consistency it would be great if the play button returned one to the WPS at all times, and not have it do two things i.e expand menus and wps return, e.g. navigate to volume in settings menu, pressing play will expand that menu, that means that there are two methods of expanding a settings menu, but no method to return to the WPS screen quickly when in settings menus.

File tree. H140. "Show files" "Supported".

Is there anyway that one could exclude certain directories/folders from the "create Playlist" function, presently it adds stuff which is in the Recycle Bin, created by windows I think. (mind you thats how i discovered that my recycle bin wasn't empty…)

Recently with most recent build and going back several builds I have noticed that there is a slight "bump" or artifact between track transitions with gapless albums/music.

The player takes 25 seconds to shutdown after 'Shutdown' has been selected in the menu and play pressed, surely this is way to long…

Hardeep, sorry but “Insert” is still not correct after downloading the latest bleeding edge. Using file tree.

this is what Insert does,

Insert A → 1 2 3 A

when its supposed to do this,

Insert A → 1 A 2 3

presently Insert exhiits the following behaviour on my player (example 1)

example 1:
Playlist contains tracks 1 2 3 and we are currently playing track 1.

1. Insert W → 1 2 3 W
2. Insert X → 1 2 3 W X
3. Insert Last Y → 1 2 3 W X Y
4. Insert Z → 1 2 3 W X Y Z
5. Insert Next Q → 1 Q 2 3 W X Y Z (Q cuts in line, before the
other queued tracks.
6. Insert A → 1 Q A 2 3 W X Y Z

example 2:
When it should be doing this,

Playlist contains tracks 1 2 3 4 5 and we are currently playing track 2.

The Playlist Submenus could be simplified to four menus only,

Insert. (would always add new tracks NEXT after now playing).

In section 3.1.1 at the end of the last paragraph you describe the joystick as Navi and describe its function,

"Pressing the joystick down is labelled Navi throughout this manual"

End quote

This to me implies that anytime I see the word "Navi" I must press the joystick down, pretty obvious and clear except when you see the follwing navigating instruction in section,

5.2. Navigating the Main Menu

This to me means press and hold the joystick down AND move the joystick to the right, I dont think thats the correct instruction, it should be "Joystick right", or for the H1xx's relable the "Navi" button to "Joystick" and refer to a Joystick press as "Navi".

section 4.1.3, Playlist Submenu section, I disagree with the description of "Insert",

My take of "Insert's" function,
Adds track/album to the playlist depending on previous method of track/album addition to playlist, i.e depends on whether Insert, Insert Next or Insert Last was previously used.

1). If "Insert" was exclusively used from inception of playlist, then "Insert" will add new track/album after track now playing.

2). If Insert Next was used previously, then "Insert" will add new track/album after now playing.

3). If Insert last was used previously, then "Insert" will add new track/album last.

Player will freeze whilst music is playing, and after generating 5 or 6 Sudoku games consecutively. (Repeat ‘hard’ generating cycle twice).
To get to the ‘Hard’ games I generate ‘medium’ games until I got to a ‘hard’ game, it does it fine the first time/cycle, then after completion of one hard game I would repeat the generating cycle to attain a ‘hard’, and this is when I would get the player freeze, the buttons are unresponsive although the music continues playing in the background, a pin reset is the only way I can restore my player.

Rockbox std build of 23rd.

I have cleared the contents of a playlist Catalog file and hardeep then suggested that the only way to retain the Playlist Catalog file "empty' is to resave it, there appears to be no menu which will enable me to save the Playlist Catalog in an empty/cleared state. and hardeep this is a bug and not a "undocumented feature" :>

When there is no music playback, white noise (hiss) is present, whilst not very irritating yet, i wonder if it is possible to supress this white noise via the OS. obviously during music playback this isn't an issue as the music drowns out the hiss.
