12810 RockboxPatchesPluginsLow [WIP] New playstation sequenced music plugin powered by ...2013-01-2521 Task Description

Hi there,

this is another WIP plugin that I wrote last year. It plays playstation sequenced music
using the sexypsf library. Original homepage here: projects.raphnet.net/#sexypsf
I'm a bit new to git so please forgive me for not uploading a proper patch.
To test the plugin, simply copy the rockpsf folder to the plugins folder in
  rockbox sources.
The plugin works as a viewer plugin, psf and minipsf extensions are associated with it in
viewers.config. Once you open a file, all other files in the same folder will be handled
  by the plugin.
I'm not going to work on this anymore, so I decided to upload it here, and hope someone
can make a proper patch and maybe some dev would be interested in testing it, make
the necessary changes and upload an stable release.
Some notes about the plugin, It needs quite some memory to load and uncompress the
files, around 8 MB should be enough but I'm not sure ;P. And it needs a lot of CPU
power to play songs without hickups. From all the targets I own (ypr0, fuzev2, fuze+,
ipod nano) only the fuze+ and ypr0 are capable of psf playback.
I think some arm recompiler could be used in the core library, but that is a huge coding
  task I believe.
Well, please read the README file for some additional info about the plugin.
  Working on: simulator, samsungypr0, fuze+

12809RockboxPatchesPluginsLow[WIP] New vgm streamed music plugin powered by vgmstrea...2013-01-2511 Task Description

Hi there,

this is another WIP plugin that I wrote last year. It plays videogame streamed music
using the vgmstream library. Original homepage here:
  sourceforge.net/projects/vgmstream/
I'm a bit new to git so please forgive me for not uploading a proper patch.
To test the plugin, simply copy the rockstream folder to the plugins folder in
rockbox sources. And you have to extract the data.zip file in the .rockbox folder.
The formats.db found in data.zip is basically a list with all vgmstream supported
extensions (at least "all" by the time I wrote the plugin). You can add or remove
new or unwanted extensions there. The plugin will only handle the extensions found
  in the formats.db.
Currently the plugin works as a viewer plugin, and there is only one extension associated
with the plugin in viewers.config for testing purposes, but you can always use the
'open with' option from rockbox. Once you open a file the plugin will parse all supported
files found in the same folder.
The vgmstream project is updated quite often, if someone wants to
update the core library, I believe that would be very easy, since I only changed a couple
  of things to it.
I'm not going to work on this anymore, so I decided to upload it here, and hope someone
can make a proper patch and maybe some dev would be interested in testing it, make
the necessary changes and upload an stable release.
As a last comment, I have only tested the plugin in the simulator, samsungypr0, fuze+
and ipod nano. It only worked in the simulator and samsungypr0, so hope someone can
  fix that.
Please read the README file for some additional info about the plugin.

12176RockboxPatchesCodecsLowNew Chiptune codec pack based on Game_Music_Emu library...2011-07-0114237 Task Description

Hi, this is a codec pack containing all codecs based on blargg's
Game_Music_Emu library.

I have ported all code to C to work in ROCKbox, and i have replaced the
MAME versions of some emulators with others compatible with the GPL license.
It was a lot of work but i did it because i really love chiptune music and having the
possibility to listen to a lot of classic video game system's music in a small player
is really great ;).

Original Game_Music_Emu library here: http://slack.net/~ant/libs/audio.html

Tested on: Sansa Fuze v2
Created from revision: 30084

The following formats are contained in the pack:

- AY (ZX Spectrum, Amstrad CPC)
- GBS (Nintendo Game Boy)
- HES (NEC TurboGrafx-16, PC Engine)
- KSS (MSX Home Computer, other z80 systems)
- NSF, NSFE (Nintendo NES, Famicom)
- SGC (Sega Master System, Game Gear, Coleco Vision)
- VGM, VGZ (Sega Master System, Mark III, Sega Genesis, Mega Driver, BBC Micro)

Additional features:

- 44100 Khz, stereo playback.
- Support all sound chips in NSF/NSFE formats.
- Support MSX-AUDIO and MSX-MUSIC in KSS format .
- Support ADPCM samples in HES format.
- Support for extended m3u playlists created specially for

some chiptune formats.

Known issuses:

- Some (or all) codecs might not work in some targets, specially

if they have an small iram size, or if the codec is too cpu intensive,
like VGM and KSS.

- Subsong change is not working properly, specially when it happens

automatically.

- Most vgz tracks will be truncated due to the small amount of free

memory available to uncompress them.

- Some SCC+ soundtracks might not work correctly.

** There might be several bugs and issues to be found yet, so please feel free to

report them here or to my mail address.

Special thanks to:

- Shay Green (blargg) the original author of the great Game_Music_Emu

library.

- Chris Moeller (kode54) who made some nice improvements to the library.
- Mitsutaka Okazaki, author of the YM2413 emulator.
- The OpenMSX team for the YM8950 emulator.
- Stéphane Dallongeville for the YM2612 emulator.
- Joshua Chang, Haiku Konaru and everyone else who has helped me to

test the codecs.
12021 RockboxPatchesCodecsLow New VGM (Video Game Music) codec based on Game_Music_Em ...2011-03-21444 Task Description

Hi, this is a new VGM (Video Game Music) codec based on blargg’s
Game_Music_Emu library.

More info here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VGM_(file_format)

Tested on: Sansa Fuze v2
Created from revision: 29607

Features:

  1. 44 khz, stereo output.
  2. Support for VGZ files (Note 1) using the inflate code from

WikiViewer plugin by Adam Gashlin.

  1. Support for SN76489/SN76496 PSG, YM2612, and YM2413 FM sound chips.
  2. Track seeking (very slow).
  3. Based on the latest version of game_music_emu.

Note 1: Many VGZ files will be trimmed when trying to uncompress them due to the small amount of free memory available to the codecs with codec_malloc (around 900 Kb). So it
is recommended to use uncompressed VGM files.

* If your target has a large RAM (like the cowon d2) i guess you can try setting the CODEC_SIZE define to a bigger value like 5-6 MB, that way most vgz files will work fine.

11999 RockboxPatchesCodecsLow New NSF (Nintendo Sound Format) codec based on Game_Mus ...2011-03-082111 Task Description

Hi, this is a new nsf codec based on blargg’s great
Game_Music_Emu library (http://slack.net/~ant/libs/audio.html#Game_Music_Emu).

I decidec to write it because the old one didn’t have vrc7 support and i think
the emulation and sound quality is better in Game_Music_Emu.

Created from revision: 29484
Tested on: Sansa Fuze V2

Features:

  1. Support for all nes extra sound chips (mmc5, fme7, fds, vrc6, vrc7, n106)
  2. Support for nsf and nsfe files.
  3. 44 khz stereo sound.
  4. Support for extended m3u playlists and internal

nsfe playlists.

  1. Very good sound quality thanks to the use of blargg’s library.

Note1: This codec has Joshua’s patch merged to make it compile fine in all targets.

I have only a Sansa Fuze V2 so please let me know if something doesn't work in
         other player.

Note2: If you find some bug or have any comment or suggestion please let me know.

11978RockboxPatchesCodecsLowNew Atari SC68/SNDH codec based on the SC68 library by ...2011-03-01167 Task Description

Hi, this is a new codec based on the SC68 library
by Benjamin Gerard (sc68.atari.org).

Revision: 29484
Tested on: Sansa Fuze v2

Features:

  1. 44 Khz Stereo sound.
  2. Supports sc68 and sndh files.
  3. Support for multi track and single track files.
  4. Metadata parsing.
  5. Fade out support.

** This codec needs the sc68 Replay folder to work, just put it in the root of
your player. you can find one here: http://aminet.net/package.php?package=mus/play/sc68.lha

Notes:

1. This is a beta codec, some (big) songs may cause rockbox to crash.
2. When compiling the sc68 library i had a lot of dependencies errors with
missing includes. It is compiling fine now on the vmware image, but not in cygwin.
I still have to find the problem with that.
3. Some songs doesn't work, specially some big sndh files. I'm still working on it.
4. Seek support is broken, i'm working on it.

Please feel free to make any comment or suggestion.

11945 RockboxPatchesCodecsLow New HES (Hudson Entertainment System) sound codec ;) 2011-02-15317 Task Description

Hi, this is a new codec that plays HES music files. It is based on gme-0.5.2 by blargg http://slack.net/~ant/libs/audio.html

The patch was made from r29307

Features:

  1. 44Khz stereo sound.
  2. M3u Playlist support for additional metadata.
  3. Fade support.
  4. Subtrack selection using the seek function.
  5. Support adpcm samples.
  6. Based on the great game_music_emu library by blargg,

so you can expect nice sound quality.

Note 1: This version is for testing, if you find any bug please let me know.
Note 2: The codec uses the file open, read, seek functions that are only defined in

players that support recording, so we must find a solution for the players that
           doesn't support that.

For a nice collection of HES music you can visit http://namida.com/kaminarimon/

11906 RockboxPatchesCodecsLow New GBS (Game Boy Sound) codec based on glargg's Game_M ...2011-01-26679 Task Description

Just finished a new gbs (Game Boy Sound) codec based on Game_Music_Emu 0.5.2. http://www.slack.net/~ant/.

Features:

  - Metadata parsing
  - Track selection (it works like the nsf codec)
  - 44Khz Interleaved stereo sound.
  - Fading works (Maybe i have to reduce this value)
  - It uses the fast version of blargg's blip_buffer, so the sound quality
    is quite nice.

* There is no GBR support *

Tested it on a Sansa Fuze V2 and it’s working very nice. The diff was made from Svn revision 29139. I haven´t tested it on release version 3.7.1.

By the way, i had never used svn before (except for chechouts ;)) so i hope the patch works fine. If the codec works fine maybe i can work on other formats supported by Game_Music_Emu-0.5.2.

Cheers.
