Sony NWZ-E460 eMMC Board

Overview

This page gives more details about the eMMC board found in the SonyNWZE460. Probably because the EmmaMobile1 does not have any USB boot mode, Sony decided to put the MMC on its own removable board to make it to flash it.

Dumping the eMMC

By trial and error and some guessing, I was able to reverse engineering some of the pinout of the eMMC. Using the CMD and DAT0 pins, I was able to hookup the eMMC to a microcontroller and dump the whole eMMC. I did some research on the connector between the main board and the eMMC board but was not able to find the exact model. This makes the electronic connection to the board somewhat difficult to achieve but not impossible. This allowed the initial SonyNWZE460Analysis.
